What makes an artist who they are? Their life, their experience, their worldview, their training, and THEIR INFLUENCES.

One of the things that I tell my vocal students when they want to know more about an artist is to look at who inspired the artist, and what their influences were. If art is a continuum, from whom are artists continuing?

So for you, I offer a small gift of my influences. These are the voices that influenced me from the start. Two people who I studied with are on this playlist, Jackie Paris and Sheila Jordan. I hope you enjoy it. These are some of my favorite jazz voices. There are many more than the voices on this playlist but this is my top 20 influences.
