Angels We Have Heard On High

129 AD, Pope Telesphorus ordained that Gloria in Excelsis be sung on “The Holy Night of The Nativity.” “Angels We Have Heard On High” is a Christmas carol to the hymn tune "Gloria" from a traditional French song of unknown origin called Les Anges dans nos campagnes, with paraphrased English lyrics by James Chadwick.

Silent Night

Joseph Mohr, the young priest who wrote the lyrics, played the guitar and sang along with Franz Xaver Gruber, the choir director who had written the melody. An organ builder and repair man working at the church took a copy of the six-verse song to his home village.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

A traditional English Christmas carol of unknown origin that is believed to date from the 16th century (with new lyric verse by Monika Ryan)

Auld Lang Syne

The text is a poem written by Robert Burns in 1788, but based on an older Scottish folk song. In 1799, it was set to a traditional tune, which has since become standard, "Auld Lang Syne."

We Three Kings

Written by John Henry Hopkins Jr. in 1857.
